The best iteration of Revu is finally here! Bluebeam has refined the user experience introduced in Revu 2018 with a focus on speed, efficiency and standardization. Revu’s architecture has been optimized to include a brand new rendering engine. The result is improved PDF rendering speeds that are six times faster than Revu 2018! The difference is night and day, and is especially noticeable when panning and zooming in and out on the page.

Bluebeam has streamlined workflows such as quantity take-offs by prompting users to calibrate the page for measurement mark-ups (our blog article “How to Calibrate a Page for Measurement Markups in Bluebeam Revu 2018” is still relevant, however now Revu will make sure you calibrate the page when you try to create a measurement mark-up, eliminating user confusion and preventing you from making mistakes in your bid process).

A new feature has been added with IT in mind; a way to standardize your Bluebeam deployment through a Revu Configuration Editor! Now you can use this tool to install and configure Revu on many machines at once, apply updates and patches to your existing deployment, and check on the status of your licenses to make sure you aren’t over installed. As with any large deployment, and although this tool is extremely easy to use, it is recommended that an IT professional with experience deploying software applications use the Revu Configuration Editor (in the coming weeks we will publish a ‘how to guide’ for this incredible new tool).

In addition to a new version release, Bluebeam has come out with a new solution for storing, managing and distributing documents: a web-based lite application that is similar to Bluebeam Studio Projects, but is accessible in a web-browser and mobile application. “Drawings” is available to all Revu users with an annual maintenance subscription and either Revu 2018 or 2019, and a free version is available for anyone to view documents. Drawings allows you to upload your documents, which are then automatically sorted and optimized for mobile viewing. From an iPad or smartphone, users can download documents for offline viewing in the field (we will also publish a more in depth guide for using Drawings in the coming weeks).

Finally, we are pleased to announce that we have a new addition to our team! Lauren Hecker is a Bluebeam Certified Instructor who will be teaching our new bi-monthly virtual Bluebeam Essentials course. If you have taken our virtual P6 Fundamentals course the concept will be familiar to you, but for those who’ve never taken a virtual class, it is an extremely affordable and convenient way of enabling your staff to use the software and requires no travel. Students and the instructor use video conferencing software to experience a virtual classroom, complete with lectures and hands-on exercises in the software. Lauren will also be offering an on-site Bluebeam Certified Course at your request, and custom virtual and on-site options as well (all of which requires no traveling for your staff). For more information please visit our Bluebeam Training page, or contact us for more information.
