In Primavera P6, columns determine what information displays in the tables and allow a quick way to adjust, sort and filter data. When creating layouts, you will often need to adjust the default columns that display in the table. If you are working on creating a layout for a specific workflow, such as performing earned value management, you may have a list of columns that you need to add to the table.

To adjust the columns that are displaying, select View > Columns.

In the Columns window, the available columns will display on the left, while the currently selected columns will display on the right. The Available Columns section is divided into different categories, and each category features a variety of columns that can be added to the table.

By just manually searching through the categories, it can be very difficult to find the columns you need – especially if you aren’t sure which category they are in. A useful tip to speed up the column adding process is to utilize the Find tool. The Find tool can be found under the Available Options menu, or by pressing Ctrl+F on your keyboard.

With the Find tool, you can simply type in the name of the column that you’re searching for and select Find Next. P6 will quickly jump to and select the column from the Available Columns section.

The best part about the tool is that you will be able to move columns from Available to Selected while the Find window remains open. Using Find, you can quickly search for each column you need and add it to the table as efficiently as possible.
