In Primavera P6, columns determine what activity information displays in the table. You can use them to quickly adjust, sort, and filter activity data. The columns that display will depend on the layout you’re using. It’s often a good idea to create layouts with different column configurations for different workflows.

Adjusting the Displaying Columns

To adjust the columns in the table, select View > Columns. You can also access the Columns window from the Layout menu or by right clicking in the table.

The Columns window features two sections: Available Columns and Selected Columns. Under Available Columns, you’ll find a list of all available columns, divided into categories. Under Selected Columns, you’ll see a list of columns currently displaying within the layout.

If you know you need a specific set of columns, it may be difficult to find them under Available Columns. There are hundreds of columns available, and you would have to expand each category to find the ones you need. To make this process easier, you can use the Find tool.

Using the Find Tool

The Find tool allows you to quickly find the specific columns you need within the Columns window. You can access the Find tool by selecting the Available Options dropdown menu. You can also access this tool by pressing Ctrl+F on your keyboard.

In the window, you can simply type in the name of the column that you’re searching for and select Find Next. P6 will quickly jump to and select the column from the Available Columns section. 

Now, you can move the column from Available Options to Selected Options using the right facing arrow. You can also double click on the column or click and drag it to move it into the other box.

The best part about the tool is that the Find window will stay open, even as you move columns. Using Find, you can quickly search for each column you need and add it to the table as efficiently as possible.
